Robert A. Yungk
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Yungk assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for Healthplace America in June of 2009. He is responsible for the company’s strategic direction and all day-to-day business operations in order to ensure the success of the company’s overall business objectives and growth.
Prior to joining Healthplace America, Mr. Yungk served with Mercer, the world’s largest healthcare consulting group, where he was Global President of Health and Benefits. While at Mercer, Mr. Yungk led the development of healthcare solutions for Fortune 500, multinationals and mid-size corporations in 42 countries around the globe.
Prior to Mercer, Mr. Yungk held the position of Senior Vice President of Managed Care for Tenet Healthcare, the nation’s second largest hospital system. In addition to his managed care operational responsibilities, he led the strategy and development of medical Centers of Excellence. In addition, he was the Chairman of TCI, Inc., one of the largest independent Medicare Advantage health plans in the country. He has more than two decades of experience in senior executive leadership roles with health industry leaders such as United Healthcare, WellPoint and Lincoln National Health Plans. His unique combination of industry knowledge from the payor, provider and consulting industries will enhance Healthplace America’s reputation as market leader in it mission to offer the quality, value and cost benefits of domestic medical travel to local employer markets throughout the United States.
Mr. Yungk holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. He is currently a doctoral candidate in healthcare policy and administration. In addition, he honorably served in the United States Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command.
Todd Roscoe
Chief Managed Care Officer
Mr. Roscoe assumed the newly created position of Chief Managed Care Officer (CMO) in July of 2009. His responsibilities include oversight of the company’s managed care operations and ongoing enhancement and development of Healthplace America’s managed care network and centers of excellence. A significant portion of his role is to assist the company’s clients in mitigating trends and reducing healthcare costs associated with major surgery and other high cost procedures.
Mr. Roscoe is a proven executive with more than two decades of experience working in senior level managed care and business development positions. Prior to joining the company as CMO, he was Vice President of Managed Care Operations for Tenet Healthcare in Texas, where he had national profit and loss responsibility for nearly 4,500 managed care contracts generating more than $4 billion in revenue. Mr. Roscoe has also served in various executive leadership roles with Allied Physicians, National Medical Enterprises and CIGNA Health Plan where he supervised managed care contracting, business development and expansion of their HMO and PPO provider networks.
Mr. Roscoe is an expert in multi-million dollar contract negotiations. His expertise has resulted in increased revenue growth and strategic network expansion of contracting provider networks for the companies he has represented.
Mr. Roscoe holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance and Quantitative Analysis from the University of Cincinnati and an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University, Georgia.
Carole Bovard
Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel
Ms. Bovard has expertise in corporate compliance, dispute resolution, financing transactions, including private placements, bank financings and mergers and acquisitions. Her law experience encompasses futures industry matters and compliance with rules and regulations of principal domestic and foreign exchanges and government industry regulators, brokerages and futures trading.
Prior to joining Healthplace America, Ms. Bovard served as the Chief Legal Officer for EcoNovo, LLC and General Counsel for Lind-Waldock & Company, FRM Management, LLC and Aramark Facility Services, LLC. Formerly, Ms. Bovard has served the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board Options Exchange.
Ms. Bovard is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and serves as an Arbitrator and Mediator for the National Futures Association. She received a Juris Doctorate from ITT Chicago-Kent College of Law, Certificate in Advanced Dispute Resolution from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University.
Richard Marra, Jr.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Marra began his career in New York City with The Kleinstein Group (TKG), an executive recruiting firm headquartered in New York. He was promoted to Vice President of TKG's Chicago office where he developed several clients in the financial services and insurance industries prior to being recruited by the firm's top Chicago client, CNA Insurance Companies. He was recruited to develop an internal executive recruiting practice servicing all lines of business within the CNA Insurance companies. Additionally, Mr. Marra was responsible training and development of all corporate and field management on interviewing and hiring practices.
Mr. Marra spent five years with CNA Insurance Companies prior to establishing Links Promotions, Inc., (LPI) an executive recruiting organization. LPI conducted searches from middle to upper management positions in the Financial Services, Insurance and consulting industries.
Mr. Marra spent 15 years as President and owner of LPI before being recruited by Benicorp Insurance Company as the Sr. Vice President reporting to the CEO. Mr. Marra was responsible for leadership assessment, Balanced Scorecard development and implementation and other general management functions. Mr. Marra was also named President and COO of Care Without Coverage, a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded and operated by Benicorp.
Keith Henthorne
Mr. Henthorne is currently Managing Director of Ziegler HealthVest Management LLC.
He possesses a strong healthcare provider operations background, including serving as CEO of hospitals and health systems, managing Tenet’s multi-billion dollar supply chain, and managing operations in Tenet’s Florida/Alabama region.
Mr. Henthorne joined Ziegler in March 2008. He has the distinction of being named a hospital CEO at the age of 25. Since that time, he served in a variety of hospital leadership roles. Mr. Henthorne served in various key management roles with Tenet Healthcare Corporation. In addition, from 2003 until the present he has served as Chairman of Chapin Revenue Cycle Management, a healthcare services company he co-founded that focuses on revenue cycle solutions for healthcare providers.
Mr. Henthorne has worked extensively in healthcare operations, and, as a result, has gained perspectives that are valuable in the venture capital environment. Among these are an acute understanding of budgeting for healthcare capital expenditures and third-party service providers, an ability to recognize the potential value of new service models and an appreciation of market size and pricing.
Mr. Henthorne is a Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and past chairman of the Florida League of Hospitals. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southwest Missouri State University and a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Missouri.
Paul Kusserow
Mr. Kusserow is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Humana, Inc. There Mr. Kusserow is responsible for leading the company’s strategic planning function as well as its merger and acquisition and venture-capital activities. He reports to Mike McCallister, Humana’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
"Paul brings a broad base of entrepreneurial and operational experience, solid financial results and dynamic creative thinking to this new role," McCallister said. Paul is ideally prepared to help position Humana for continued long-term growth and success in a changing marketplace."
A Vermont native, Kusserow was most recently Managing Director of private equity at the Chicago-based investment firm B.C. Ziegler and Company, Inc. He was also Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Ziegler HealthVest Fund where he focused on early stage investments in healthcare services and healthcare IT. From 2004 to 2007, he was Managing Director of San Ysidro Capital Partners LLC, a healthcare services consulting and investment advisory firm.
From 1997 until 2004, Kusserow served as Tenet Healthcare Corporation's Senior Vice President in charge of Corporate Strategy and Tenet’s venture investments and was the founder of Tenet Ventures. Kusserow started his career as a consultant with McKinsey and Company, Inc.
Kusserow is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wesleyan University. He earned an M.A. with honors from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
Barry P. Schochet
Mr. Schochet is the former Vice Chairman of Tenet Healthcare Corporation, having served Tenet in a variety of senior positions for more than 25 years. Mr. Schochet joined National Medical Enterprises, Tenet’s predecessor company, in 1979. He held a number of positions, including president and chief operating officer of NME’s hospital division. He also served in various other regional and corporate roles.
A native of New York, Schochet has been active in industry organizations and lobbying efforts. He served on the board of the Federation of American Hospitals, where he served two terms as chairman. He is has been a member of the board of the Healthcare Leadership Council, as well as the Coalition to Protect America’s Healthcare.
